The food is overall very good with a solid variety and is made in a way that you can see it. I love that it is fresh and it is nice to have some authenticity nearby. The service is Hit or Miss in my experience as they have a lot going on. The atmosphere is bright but can feel a bit abrupt. The soup dumplings and the sweet and sour bowl of ribs as well as the black pepper beef are the things I enjoyed most. The green beans were also great although a bit highly priced. Cost for this type of food are a bit on the high end especially for the type of location but I still enjoyed it.

Gathered a group of friends and made a lunch date to try this Bao restaurant. We were mostly interested in trying the soup dumplings, but there were a lot of tempting items on the menu. The barbecue spare ribs and cold sliced beef make excellent appetizers. Both were very flavorful. We tried the chicken soup dumplings as well as the pork and they were both very good. The service was prompt and friendly throughout our meal. One small note: if splitting the meal between multiple people, have each person order separately and close their order. Otherwise you will all be adding items to the same cart. I will definitely be back to this place in the future.

Went there with my wife today after she saw a tiktok about this place and her coworkers had been talking about this place aswell. This place knocked it out of the park. We wanted a smattering of different things and each and everyone of them was delicious. The broth in the soup dumplings was fragrant and flavourful. The meat of the bbq riblets stuck to the bones just perfectly and then melted off in your mouth. The pan fried buns were crunchy, chewy and piping hot. And the chilly oil wontons were nicely spiced and each bite was perfectly sized. We cannot wait to come back again and try out their other items. Special shoutout to Jason our server who was very helpful and made sure our drinks were topped off and promptly explained each item.

I rarely go on here and write reviews, but this place absolutely deserved one. Bao Bao Asian Eatery is hands down one of the best restaurant additions Ann Arbor has had in a long time, and genuinely the first place in over a year where every single dish we ordered was perfection. I was literally doing my happy food dance the entire meal. The soup dumplings were incredible — aromatic broth, delicate wrappers, deeply flavorful filling. The only sad part was that a few stuck to the steamer paper, so we lost some of the broth because it was THAT juicy and delicious. The chili crisp wontons also absolutely blew me away. As a forever diehard dumpling girly, these were insanely craveable. The perfect balance of Sichuan flavor, spice, richness, and texture. So flavorful without being overwhelming, and I’m already thinking about them again. The shrimp & pork dumplings were honestly magic in my mouth. I’ve never had them prepared quite like that before and immediately wanted another order. I’m also extremely picky about hot & sour soup, and theirs was phenomenal. A cool new spot run by an enthusiastic team. You can tell they put a lot of heart into it, the interior is beautiful and makes for a really comfortable meal. We tried the beef noodle soup, prawn potstickers, cucumber salad, and cold beef shank. Everything was authentic and tasty. Definitely a great addition to the neighborhood.
